Over 400 teams tackle the CN Tower for WWF

Some of the people who sped past me on the way up the stairs include Toronto Argos Adriano Belli and Joe Eppele, as well as hockey great Scott Niedermayer, not to mention lots of Canada Life climbers in their bright red shirts. First-time climbers from The Weather Network had a video crew in tow to share the experience with viewers.

With a not-too-shabby time of 21:41, I took a moment to enjoy the fresh air and the view from the top, and watched some of the other climbers cross the finish line. I know I wasn’t alone in being overwhelmed by a feeling of deep gratitude for everyone who helps us make this annual fundraiser for WWF a success.

Behind the scenes, our awesome staff and hundreds of enthusiastic volunteers helped register and cheer on our teams. We’ll all be back at the tower bright and early tomorrow morning to welcome thousands of public climbers, so stay tuned for more stories.
In the meantime, check out our Flickr feed for Ken Mak’s terrific photos from the first day of the climb. Click here for team results.
