A message from Roger Dickhout, Chairman, WWF-Canada Board of Directors

Today I am announcing that Gerald Butts is leaving WWF after four years of leadership and service as President and CEO.  Following discussion, Gerald and the board arrived at this decision together.  His departure is effective October 18, 2012.

We appreciate the many contributions Gerald has made to WWF during his tenure as President and CEO.  Gerald led the organization through an important period, helping set exciting and ambitious national and international priorities and working to renew and align the organization in order to achieve them.
Gerald has created opportunities for many individuals in the organization and attracted great talent and new supporters to WWF.  Under his leadership the organization became a leader in social media and engaged a growing a number of Canadians in conservation. He has also helped us to build better bridges with and have substantially greater impact within the international WWF network.  He was a valued member of the executive team that guides WWF’s global efforts.
Gerald has been a strong ambassador for WWF.  He has played an important role in the impact we have had over the last four years and I am sure he will maintain a strong personal interest in our continued success.
The Board of Directors will put in place an interim leadership structure to guide us through the next few months while we review internal and external candidates to lead the organization. We continue to be highly supportive of the direction of WWF-Canada. One of Gerald’s legacies is that he has put in place a strong management team that we are very confident will continue to effectively execute the organization’s priorities.
Thank you all for your support of Gerald during his tenure, and for your continued commitment to WWF’s mission.  Please join me in wishing Gerald well on the next chapter of his career.
