Respect for the land and sea

Respect for the land and sea is at the heart of how communities of the Great Bear interact with nature.  They hold close the knowledge that “everything depends on everything else,” recognizing that the well-being of the Great Bear region is intricately tied to the well-being of the land and sea. The coastal territories represent one of the largest intact areas of temperate rainforest remaining in the world. The sea is among the most biologically diverse and pristine. When you hear the voices of the people that live here, it is impossible to imagine putting all of this in jeopardy. Let’s stand with the people of the Great Bear and stop oil tankers from travelling through one of the world’s global treasures.

Coastal First Nations and WWF are asking the world and Canadians to show they care about the Great Bear region on the coast of British Columbia. It is a truly special place on Earth. Enbridge’s proposed Northern Gateway pipeline puts this incredible place and its people at risk. We know an oil spill is inevitable. Add your name and help Canadians say to government: No oil pipeline and no oil tankers in the Great Bear.  Add Your Name: askacanadian.ca
