Celebrating Polar Bear Week in style with HP Canada

From February 23 – 27, HP Canada employees rallied together for Polar Bear Week to raise awareness and funds for WWF’s Arctic campaign. It was a week filled with delicious food, amazing prizes, friendly competition, and most of all, a TON of fun!
Here are just some of the things that happened:

An Arctic Escape Game

During HP’s Arctic escape game, three HP teams stood stranded on an iceberg with only one way to escape: by raising funds for the Arctic. The team that raised the most money in 30 minutes won a gift card of their choice. In just half an hour, HP teams raised over $450!

Polar Bake Sale

HP employees baked up a storm during their all-day Polar bake sale. The highlight of the day? This igloo made entirely of fudge. Sweet!

Chili Cook-Off

Things got a bit heated at HP’s chili competition, where nine of HP Canada’s top chefs prepared their best chili to try and win the hearts (and taste buds) of the competition’s judges.
The winner: Mallory McKewen with her Sweet N’ Smokey Chili!
People’s Choice chili went to Jason Kim and his short rib chili, which took over three hours to prepare!

A Polar Bear Week Raffle

HP employees tested out their luck by purchasing raffle tickets for some amazing prizes, including a PlayStation 4! In total, over 350 tickets were sold!

Canada-Wide Polar Bear Week Activities

HP didn’t limit Polar Bear Week engagement to those at their Mississauga (Ontario) head office. Employees across the country were given the opportunity to get into the spirit by participating in events such as a kids Arctic drawing contest, a Canada-wide trivia challenge, an all-white dress down day and an online silent auction!

The culmination of all their Polar Bear activities will be on March 12, when the General Manager of HP Canada and eight HP employees polar dip into Lake Ontario to show their support for Arctic conservation!
So far, HP Canada employees have raised over $13,000 for Polar Bear Week, and they’re not stopping yet! By March 12, they aim to raise an astounding $20,000 for WWF’s work in the Arctic. If that’s not proof of the true power of employee engagement, I don’t know what is.
Polar Bear Week is a part of Living Planet @ Work’s workplace fundraising called Spring Things. The next Spring Things activity, is Canada Water Week.  Do you want to engage your colleagues in exciting events like Polar Bear Week, Canada Water Week and the CN Tower Climb?
