Beginning this Friday and lasting through next week in Victoria, dozens of brave folks will be filling a room in a hotel near downtown, to have their 10 minutes say about the proposed Northern Gateway Project, which would introduce upwards of 200 tankers per year carrying diluted bitumen through Canada’s Great Bear Sea.

Energy company Enbridge sought regulatory approval from the National Energy Board yesterday to set the flow of oil and diluted bitumen to run from Westover, Ontario to Montreal, Quebec along “Line 9”.

Today, the Gitga’at Nation have organized a rally to demonstrate their firm stance against the proposed Northern Gateway Pipeline Project. Upwards of 2,000 people, representing both aboriginal and non-aboriginal voices from up and down the coast, are here.
