On a soggy Sunday morning in May, I joined our Conservation Science Director, Steven Price and about a dozen WWF donors on a nature hike through Fish Creek Provincial Park in Calgary. While nature encounters abounded, the highlight for me was what the people on our hike brought to the morning experience – both passion for and curiosity of nature.

Some of our happiest memories are created when we're communing with nature. And Canada's world-class national parks offer remarkable and varied outdoor experiences. That's the outstanding achievement of the world's first and longest-established parks agency - Parks Canada, which turns 100 today.

The Great Bear: A Gift to the Earth
The word that comes to mind is power. Spirit bears and rain wolves ply moss-lined creeks that are teeming with spawning salmon. Dense forests carpet a complex network of fjords. Myriad sea life thrives in the intertidal zone, striking in its abundance and diversity.
